Marcelo Abritta
Marcelo Abritta (aka Pato) is co-founder and CEO of Buser, a collaborative charter bus company that guarantees savings of up to 60% on intercity bus trips compared to tickets purchased at bus stations. Buser has already raised $ 138M from Canary, Monashees, Valor, Lightrock, Softbank, Globo Ventures, Norte Capital and others. Before founding Buser, Pato founded two other companies and worked at Banco Modal.
“Canary invested in Buser as something less than a PowerPoint. We had done 1 trip which had gone wrong, and there was a court order shutting down out operations nationwide. On the pitch deck we said: we know how to reduce the prices of intercity bus travel by 50%, but the regulation is rigged in the incumbent's favor, which has a strong lobby and will litigate very hard. 70% of the seed money was earmarked for lawyers. Somehow they decided to bet on us. And all along the way Canary has been extremely helpful.”
